Job Description:

Durham Diocese is looking to appoint someone who will work within established processes to develop suitable future uses for closed churches, working in conjunction with the Church Commissioners and other stakeholders, while also managing the maintenance of closed churches for which the Diocese is responsible.

Additionally, they will help parishes as they liaise with grant making bodies in order to support and encourage the development of high quality, grant funded projects and support other work in the context of care of church buildings as appropriate.

The successful candidate will understand the importance of working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders in a multi-faceted organisation, have knowledge of the broad fields of conservation and heritage management, including planning legislation, and an awareness of the ecclesiastical planning system.

They will be well organised, have good communication skills and the ability to work independently and with ingenuity within a legal framework.

Hours:

35 hours per week (Full time) Part time applications would be considered for 28 hours per week and above

Salary:

£36,286.56 per annum (full-time -35 hours per week). This will be pro rata should the appointment be less than full-time.

Contract:

Fixed Term Contract (3 Years)
