First Annual Butterfly Count is Huge Success

On Saturday 30th July, St Michael and all Angels held their first, and hopefully annual, Butterfly Count in the churchyard.

Over fifty people of all ages attended the event, many of whom are not regular churchgoers. A total of eight species were identified with children and parents alike having great fun.

After the fifteen-minute count, everyone retired to the church to make butterfly feeding stations, decorate butterfly biscuits and eat cream teas!  Nothing better on a Saturday in July.

Look out for the first ever Butterfly Count in churchyards results, which will be published in the National Butterfly Conservation Magazine.
