The Acting Bishop of Durham invites applications for the position of Priest in Charge to serve the parish of St Nicholas, Dunston.
This is a full-time role, working in this single parish benefice within the Deanery of Gateshead West.
St Nicholas, Dunston is a spacious, modern church building, serving the village and surrounding area of Dunston and stands as a warm, welcoming, and mission-focused parish committed to faith, community, and outreach.
Both the church and community are vibrant and the church holds a generous place in the area, welcoming the people through its doors for regular and special worship opportunities and reaching out in creative ways to schools and others. It serves the area through its well established shop, selling recycled clothing and goods, which is a welcome hub in the community.
There is a committed ministry team of lay leaders and volunteers, working together to discern and enable missional growth opportunities, who look forward to supporting their new priest.
The vicarage is a pleasant and well-maintained property adjacent to the church and close to many good local amenities, including excellent travel links to local cities and the Metro Centre shopping complex.
The Diocese of Durham is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.
