Evangelism Enabler

The Diocese of Durham is seeking a creative, proactive and relational team player with a passion for evangelism to take on a key new role in the Diocesan team.

As Evangelism Enabler, you will be part of the Growing Churches Team and work collaboratively with parishes and deaneries, with a particular focus on growing and deepening mission and evangelism.

The Diocese of Durham is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will provide coaching, encouragement and support for church leaders and their congregations to develop and deepen a culture and programme of evangelism and enabling them to become more confident and effective in their personal witness.

The successful candidate must:

  • Be an inspiring and experienced evangelist.
  • Have a deep commitment to a personal Christian faith with a motivation to see others come to faith, and a prayerful and hopeful response to challenge.
  • Be an excellent organiser with great initiative. 
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture skills and gifts in others, and excellent creative and persuasive written and oral communication skills.
  • Be experienced in developing resources and managing projects.
  • Have good Biblical knowledge and a passion for discipleship and prayer.
  • Be able to travel widely throughout the Diocese of Durham.
