Generous children in Durham Diocese are doing their bit to keep other youngsters warm this winter.
Members of the Diocesan Children’s Council supported a warm coat appeal, launched by a school in the Diocese.
Pupils were encouraged to bring any spare coats which were no longer needed into school, so they could be made available to families struggling to afford a new coat for their children.
The initiative was inspired by Gordon the Generous Goat and the catchline ‘Gordon the Goat needs your spare coat’.
Children’s Ministry Adviser Sharon Pritchard said: “It was brilliant to see so many coats come in from members of Children’s Council and we were very grateful. We happily passed them on and they are now being used. Well done to Children’s Council, to all at the school and everyone who supported the appeal.”
The Diocese of Durham Children’s Council was launched in November 2016 with a view to giving young people an opportunity to communicate their feelings, hopes, fears and opinions on being involved in church life.
The council also provides a platform for children to work together on projects and areas of interest. For more information click here
