A celebration event was held at Cuthbert House on Saturday 14 June, marking the successful completion of the Catalyst training course for ten children and youth leaders from the Diocese of Durham
Ordinations will take place on Saturday 28 June and Sunday 29 June at Durham Cathedral with eleven people being ordained as deacons and eight as priests.
Last week, six Durham Ministry Experience Volunteers (MEVs) attended the Ministry Experience Scheme National Conference at St Mary’s Church, Marylebone. The event brought together MEVs from dioceses across the UK and the Diocese of Europe to connect, worship, and explore the theme of leadership through inspiring keynote talks and discussions.
A hospital chaplain has been awarded accreditation to the UK Board for Healthcare Chaplains (UKBHC). It comes after the Revd Jane Easterby, Anglican Hospital Chaplain at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, achieved her Postgraduate Certificate in Chaplaincy from Durham University.
A long-serving member of a local parish church has been licensed as Associate Priest – almost 60 years after she first stepped foot inside.
On Saturday 14 September, people from across the Diocese gathered together at Durham Cathedral to celebrate those called to exercise lay ministry within our Diocese with Bishop Sarah licensing or authorising 23 new lay ministers.
The Revd Dr Richard Briggs has been licensed as the new Principal of Lindisfarne College of Theology.
