The Youth Saints group at St Mary’s Church, Gainford, continues to thrive as it celebrates nine years. The group is expressing deep gratitude for God’s blessings and praise over the years — from the dedicated leaders God has provided, to the families and children they have come to know well.
Youth Saints meets monthly and welcomes children aged 7 to 12 for an evening of games, crafts, songs, sport, Bible stories, food and prayer.
For a small village like Gainford, the ongoing enthusiasm from both children and volunteers is something truly special. Sessions are held in the church itself, helping the children feel at home in a church environment and feel it is their special space. In the summer months, the village green becomes the perfect setting for outdoor activities such as sports and parachute games.
St Mary’s say they are thankful that, month after month, children continue to come along eager to take part and grow in faith together. As the group looks back on nearly a decade of joyful gatherings, they wonder with hope and excitement what sparks of faith may have been ignited in the hearts of the many young people who have shared in Youth Saints over the years.
