Stranton Church celebrates weddings through the years

All Saints Stranton is marking its 900th anniversary with a special exhibition celebrating weddings held at the church over the years.

Titled ‘Weddings Through the Years’, the exhibition will feature photographs, stories and wedding dresses shared by couples from across the community, highlighting the church’s long-standing role in local life.

Revd Claire Mead, Assistant Curate at Stranton Church, recently met with Dorry and Stan, a couple in their 90s who were married at the church in 1950.

She said: “It was a delight to meet Dorry and Stan, who still live in the town. They enjoyed sharing memories and photos from their wedding and it was wonderful to discover how much Stranton Church meant to their life together.”

The exhibition also includes more recent wedding stories, including that of Jordan, a worship leader at the church, and his wife Chloe, who were married at All Saints Stranton in 2017 after first meeting at the church’s Youth Fellowship.

Jordan said: “Chloe and I got married at All Saints Stranton in April 2017 with all our friends and family present. It was the best place for us to get married because we met there as Youth Fellowship leaders. Now our two children are part of the current youth set-up.”

Members of the public are invited to contribute their own wedding memories, photographs or dresses to the exhibition. To take part, contact admin@stranton-church.org.uk or call 01429 894006 by 1st February.

The free exhibition takes place at All Saints Stranton, Church Row, TS24 7QT, on Valentine’s Day, Saturday 14 February, from 10am to 4pm.
