On Saturday 16 September, people from across the Diocese gathered together to celebrate those called to exercise lay ministry within our Diocese. Eight lay ministers were admitted and licensed to the ministry of Licensed Lay Minsters, five people were authorised as Lay Pastoral Ministers, three people were licensed as Lay Ministers of the Word and one person was licensed as a Lay Chaplain. Bishop Paul led the service which was held at Durham Cathedral.
Those who were admitted as a Licensed Lay Minister:
Julia Harrison - Dalton le Dale, Murton and South Hetton
Nichola Main - North Wearside Team Ministry
Lisa Oram - Byers Green, St Peter
Peter Snowden - Dinsdale with Sockburn, Hurworth and Middleton, St George
Ruth Stokes - Durham, St Nicholas
Paul Vincent - Chester le Street, St Mary and St Cuthbert
Jim Walsh - Great Aycliffe Team Ministry
Christopher Wilson - Hebbur, St John and Jarrow Grange, Christ Church
Those who have completed their training as a Lay Pastoral Minister:
Phil Brown - South Shields, St Stephen
Rob Cooper - Oxclose (Hope Family Church)
Cath Jones - Greenside, St John
Norma Todd - Greenside, St John
Pauline Wilcox - Winlaton, St Paul
Those who have completed their training as a Lay Chaplain:
Angela Stockdale - Belmont, St Mary Magdalene
