Events for Children
Launch of a Pilot Stockton Deanery Children’s Ministry Network
12:30pm – 2:30pm, 14th October 2025
Following a listening exercise across Durham Diocese, a clear need was identified for localised children’s ministry networks. Many of those involved in children’s ministry expressed a desire for greater connection and support. In response to this, a pilot Children’s Ministry Network has been launched in the Stockton Deanery.
This new network aims to provide opportunities for prayer, shared learning, resource sharing, and the identification of relevant training opportunities.

Events for Young Adults
The Gen Z Gathering
Save the date! Saturday 9th May 2026
Gen Z Role Models Project: The Research Summit.
Durham Diocese is collaborating with Oxford University in their Gen Z Role Models Project, which explores how young adults think about religion and spirituality. Rather than directly asking participants what they believe, the researchers invite them to write a fictional story – freeing them to explore complex ideas with imagination and depth. On Saturday the 9th of May 2026, Oxford researchers, clergy and young adult participants will gather to shape analysis and explore what our results mean. Have young adults in our Diocese become disillusioned by the church? What barriers to faith do our young adults experience, do they live between belief and unbelief? Have our young adults come to faith through finding connection with God after confusion or crisis? This Research Summit will be a safe space for young adults to explore religion and spirituality, and will be a chance for our Diocese to listen to young adults of all faiths or none.
Events for Schools
Y6 Leavers’ Services
Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th June 2026
We look forward to welcoming Year 6 students and their teachers to Durham Cathedral to mark their transition from Primary School to Secondary School. These special services give children the opportunity to say thank you to God for their time at Primary School, and look forward to the coming years in Secondary School. Services are interactive with banner procession, prayer spaces, songs, a short talk and moments for reflection. For more information please contact our Children’s Mission Enabler, Christine Muneza christine.muneza@durham.anglican.org.
