We are looking for someone to lead our
Community of Hope project in Murton.
Are you passionate about transforming the lives of individuals and communities through demonstrating and sharing the love of Jesus? This may be the opportunity that God has brought you to.
This is a 4-year post, with an option to extend as funding becomes available.
Hours: 35 hours per week with five weeks annual leave plus bank holidays. It will include some weekend work – hours flexible. A job- share may be considered.
Salary: £21 000 plus pension
Project background: The Diocese of Durham is engaged in a partnership with the National Church (Strategic Development Fund) to invest in low-income communities in ways that bring hope and transformation, both spiritually and physically.
Murton Community of Hope will focus on growing the church in a different setting and be accessible to all. It will listen well to the community and offer support to improve well- being, engage people in community activism, support youth groups and activities tailored for all, combatting isolation. It will also be a centre for advocacy. Most importantly, it will be a safe space to find out about Jesus and the way he can transform lives.
We are looking for someone who has a strong Christian faith, who is a good communicator, can organise and coordinate people and activities.
You would be well supported by a group of enthusiastic volunteers from the congregation of Holy Trinity church, a part-time hospitality worker and a session worker and also by relevant staff from the diocese.
