Young Pilgrims and walkers from across the country are arriving in Durham today for an open air rally and event in the city’s Market Square.
The pilgrimage organised by the Young Christian Climate Network (YCCN) began in Cornwall on 11th June and arrives at Durham Cathedral at 4pm today. As part of the route to Glasgow, the pilgrims will be holding an event in the Market Place outside St Nics at 4:30pm attended by local MP Mary Foy.
The young Pilgrims will be accompanied by a boat they are carrying as they walk as a representation of hope that we would #RiseToTheMoment and is being used this year to set sail towards a more just future. The rally will be followed by an event at St Nics Church at 4.30pm with talks and Q&As from Mim Skinner, co-founder of the Refuse Café, on food policy and climate justice, blogger and environmentalist, Tom Swaffield-Bray on living a low carbon lifestyle and Sara Jackson on Climate justice and creation care from a young person’s perspective.
