St Brandon, Brancepeth, Durham
House for Duty (commitment of Sunday + 2 further days a week)
Priest in Charge, St Brandon’s, Brancepeth
Potential to offer the diocese expertise in spirituality or another specialism
Brancepeth is a beautiful small village ten minutes’ drive from Durham. At the centre, beside the Castle, is St Brandon’s Church, now wonderfully renewed after the fire of 1998. It is widely recognised as an uplifting place of prayer and peace, popular for concerts, retreats and quiet days, and lovingly inhabited by a thriving congregation eager to follow where God is leading.
Previous clergy at Brancepeth have also held diocesan responsibilities, and so, while we remain open to all applicants, we are particularly interested in applicants who might also offer special expertise and experience to the diocese. This activity would be negotiated with the diocese and would be included within the time dedicated to the House for Duty post. One clear opportunity for such a contribution exists in the area of spirituality, particularly in relation to linking people with spiritual direction, but it may be that candidates will offer other specialist skills and interests, or wish to hold the post alongside other responsibilities.
