Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse: in person sessions

The aim of this training is to enable participants to engage thoughtfully and pro-actively with the issue of Domestic Abuse.

It will raise awareness of different types of domestic abuse, give confidence to participants to spot possible signs of domestic abuse and enable them to respond well.

Up to now the course has only been available as an online module on the Church of England Safeguarding Portal.

This course is a requirement for Clergy, Readers, Licensed Lay Ministers, those with Permission to Officiate and anyone holding the Bishop’s licence and Parish Safeguarding Officers.

Whilst we are waiting for a settled decision from the National Safeguarding Team about the training requirements around this module for PCC members, we are encouraging at least one member of every PCC to complete the course. The course is also open to other interested parties.

Before completing this training, you must have current training to Foundation level or above.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THE ONLINE MODULE YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ONE OF THESE SESSIONS.

If you have any queries please contact Sandra Partington. Email; Sandra.partington@durham.anglican.org. Tel; 07442 580 170

Please share this information with anyone who may be interested.

  • Tuesday 14th February at Cuthbert House from 10am to 12 noon.
  • Monday 27th March at Cuthbert House from 2pm to 4pm.

Although the National Guidance Requires PCC members to complete this training this is currently under review by the National Safeguarding Team.  As such you may choose to wait until the decision has been made before requiring PCC members to undergo this training.
