Bishop Paul’s comments on the news of the death of Archdeacon Sue Pinnington, he said:
“We heard today the very sad news that Sue died very unexpectedly yesterday. It appears she died peacefully in her sleep.
“Sue served this Diocese wonderfully well during the 10 years in which she was Rector of Houghton le Spring. She was chair of the Houses Committee for a number of years. She served on the Investment Committee. For the last couple of years, she was a part of the Bishop’s Leadership Team as Woman’s Adviser in Ministry. She did much else in supporting others behind the scenes. She has had a distinguished ministry as Archdeacon of the Gwent Valleys and Director of Mission for Monmouth Diocese since she moved there in 2018.
“Recently she was with us at the Deacons’ Ordination supporting Christine Britcliffe.
“Please hold Sue’s many friends, and Monmouth Diocese, in your prayers. She will be deeply missed. She now rests with the living God whom she loved and served.”
