The 15th National Conference on the Deanery took place in October 2016, and was themed around More for Less: Deaneries in Renewal and Reform. Revd Canon Sheila Bamber, Canon Provost of Sunderland Minster, and Revd Canon David Brooke, Deanery Planning Adviser, represented Durham Diocese at what was a well-attended and stimulating conference.

Revd Canon Dr Roger Matthews, Dean of Mission in the Diocese of Chelmsford - My deanery and me (plenary and reflections)

In addition there were optional seminars on:
- Full-time rural and area deans – from relationships to mission
Tim Norwood, full-time Area Dean of Milton Keynes - Mission and ministry online
Dr Roz Clarke, Online Pastor in the Diocese of Lichfield - Making waves – using communications to inform and shape mission
Ali Burnett, journalist and broadcaster
