Generosity Week 2022

Generosity Week is finally upon us! It officially begins this Sunday (25th September) with the online weekly service, including a sermon by Revd Esther Prior of St John’s, Egham, in which she talks about what occupies our thoughts – do we have a ‘scarcity’ mindset with its associated desire to grasp at what we can – or can we live an expansive life of freedom with the faith that our material needs will be met? It should be well worth a watch (either live or during the week) and is available to share on your social media channels.

Speaking of social media, do keep an eye on our Diocesan Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds this week which will be sharing tips, thoughts and inspiration from across the Church of England as we seek to live lives that reflect the generous nature of Jesus Christ. If you are celebrating Generosity Week, please do let the Giving Team and Communications Team know!

Finally, there’s a wide range of Generosity Week resources to explore, including church service material, small group and children's resources, and ways of engaging the wider community, along with podcasts and reflections for individual use. You can find more information here. And remember, these can be used any time, not just this week!

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.” Matthew 6:10-20
