With only six day to go until Talking Jesus – Sophie Jelley uses here seventh post to say: “Everyone loves a freebie…”.
We have tried to gather helpful resources for Talking Jesus Durham but in all the rush of getting events organised and welcoming mission teams these can sometimes get forgotten.
So here’s a quick reminder that it’s not too late to get the resources available to you if you havent got them already. These are either from your deanery link person or direct from the Mission & Ministry resource team at Cuthbert House.
Mark’s gospel – This attractive little paperback has been published especially for us, with faith stories from people of our region. Already these have gone out and one comment came back: ‘i was really touched by the story of xx ….I would like to talk more about the questions I have again’. There is also further information at the back of the book and a prayer to use in response if helpful to the reader. Please do make every effort to get God’s story into the hands of those who may never have heard it.
Contact cards – with a prayer on one side & tear off contact details on the other so people can ask to be kept in touch with their local church or express interest in a course introducing the christian faith in their area.
Start course packs – still a few left in the office if you want to run a start course. So easy to run. Fun and interactive & requires no prior knowledge of Church, God or Jesus. Highly recommended and can be done in 6 (one hour) sessions. Why not invite people to try the first week & see how they like it?
Little book of hope – a colourful booklet for children introducing faith ideal for messy church attendees or other children & family events during Talking Jesus.
Christians in sport – postcard size giveaway ideal to give out at a park run or other sporty events during the mission.
Soul Food Cards – a great little resource, credit card sized to have on tables at your events or on the street to give away. The recipient can sign up for a series of texts giving them an un-intrusive way into Christian faith.
Or of course use whatever else works in your context. The aim is ‘Talking Jesus’ so let’s keep that the main thing. Please join me in praying that the resources will serve to help people hear and respond to the love of God as we Talk Jesus in the coming days.
Oh – and don’t forget your communications resources which you can get here.
