Bishop Mark helps Alison Moore discover the secrets of her box of thank you gifts.
Over one hundred invited guests and members of the Diocese gathered to say thank you to our Bishop’s Adviser in Pastoral Care & Counselling, Alison Moore on the occasion of her retirement from the Diocese (12th December, Auckland Castle). After 13 years, Alison has decided that it’s time to retire and as she says:”spend more time player the cello and taking things a little easier (well thats the plan anyway!).” The Right Revd Mark Bryant, Bishop of Jarrow gave thanks for all of Alison’s efforts in developing the Authorised Pastoral Care (APA) community and for her tireless efforts in providing counselling services and coordination throughout the Diocese. He said:”When people in the Church talk about taking the pastoral care of clergy and their families seriously, they point to Durham as a place where it is done properly – and we can directly thank Alison for that.” Thanks was also given by Darlington APA Anita Foster who talked of memories of training with Alison and The Revd Canon Bob Hopper who gave thanks for Alison’s calm, supportive professionalism when he had been of support through difficult times. The evening was a great opportunity for friends old and new to celebrate with Alison and her Husband Geoff. A selection of images from the evening.
