A Durham church celebrated the forthcoming Christmas festival with a fair blessed with the X-Factor.

The event at St Giles was staged by the church’s Little Lights group, which is for children under three-years-old and their mums/carers. Organised by the mums with help from members of the congregation, the event also featured local singer Brendan Pallister, who is due to audition for the hit television show the X-Factor. Brendan, who sang at the event, is a friend of one of the mothers. The Revd Alan Bartlett, who has just completed his fifth year at St Giles, said: “We staged the event to bring together the church and community so people feel at home in their church.”
